MEI CHUN
FULL NAME HERE (Chinese way) Chun Mei
(western way) Mei Chun
NICKNAMES Mei, or Mei-Mei
GENDERfemale
AGE sixteen
GRADE tenth
ETHNICITY taiwanese
SPECIALTY Poison and Medicine.
Due to growing up in an environment where she was often taught about plants and their uses, Mei has an extensive knowledge of plants and how to use them against others. Of course it isn’t just poisons she’s familiar with Mei also can use plants (and other medical devices) to heal her team-mates (and herself).
YOUR CHARACTER'S LIKES
Bubble tea – It’s her favourite drink, she simply loves how tastes and the texture!
Books – Mei loves to read, to her theres nothing better than settling down with a good book. Especially one with a twist.
Science – She’s always been interested in science, especially plant biology. It probably stems from the fact her grandmother was a Botanist.
Western Culture/Fashion – From singers to television Mei adores western culture and fashion. She’s quite a trendy individual and simply adores shopping.
Taiwanese/Chinese culture – While she’s westernised, she still loves her countries history and their culture. Because of that she owns at least to Hanyu’s and has a Qipao.
Allies – Since she can hardly make proper friends here she would like to make some allies. People who’ll have her back no matter what.
Exploring – She simply loves to wander for ours in somewhere she can explore for hours
YOUR CHARACTER'S DISLIKES
Enemies – well she’s bound to make some. Especially in a place like this, Mei just hopes she doesn’t upset someone enough to make them out for her blood.
Badly written books – Trash, she just won’t touch them.
Ignorance – Especially people that don’t respect other cultures. It just really annoys her.
Bad smells – who doesn’t hate them.
Getting lost – Her sense of direction’s terrible, and she’s to stubborn to ask for help.
Rain – It means she can’t explore or go walking or just generally enjoy the sunshine. She does like the smell afterwards though
Sleeping in to late – It gives her a head ache and it can put her in a bad mood.
FEARS
Making a mortal enemy – Does anyone really want that? Didn’t think so, and neither does Mei. After all who wants someone who wants to kill her.
Disappointing her family – There one of the reasons she’s here, and she doesn’t want to disappoint them by failing or getting kicked out.
QUIRKS/ODDITIES
She tends to wrap a piece of hair around her pinkie when she’s tired.
She bites her lip if she has a lot on her mind.
She sometimes tends to sing when she does things. Like ‘ I’m making some noodles, noodles there awesome’. Mostly she doesn’t realise this.
OVERALL PERSONALITY
How can one begin to describe the adolescent mind of one Mei Chun? Well to start off we could say Mei is very dependable, she’s loyal to the point of idiocy as she simply cares too much about the people she loves. This includes most of her family and all her friends (even if they sometimes grate on her) she loves them with all her heart and would try her best for any of them. As she is from rural Taiwan she has been brought up with a strict Taiwanese upbringing (which corresponds to the fact her elderly grandmother brought her up) meaning she knows her place, she’s very sensible and sometimes finds it hard to speak her mind. However when she does she can be very blunt and will tell most people what she thinks of certain situations, or whether she agrees with their views.
Though she does have a little bit of a rebellious streak, one which those she whose authority she doesn’t care for have had to put up with for the last sixteen years ; she won’t listen to anything she’s told to do by someone she doesn’t respect or someone doesn’t have a certain authority level. She can be quite rude and will simply tell them ‘you’re annoying.’ (A statement some of her old friends are definitely used to hearing) though she tries to pass it off as more playful than rude. However recently Mei has become a very nervous character and has a terrible tendency to worry over things that most people wouldn’t usually worry about. Sometimes it gets to the stage where she’ll lose sleep over a problem, which reflects badly in the development of her powers and her work.
from this she can appear quite shy and meek when you first meet her as she has a bad tendency of rambling when she’s nervous or stuttering. Though once she see’s you as a friend instead of foe she instantly warms to the person and finds it easier to talk to them.
Mei is also a terrifically naive person; she’s a day dreamer and tends to live in her own little blissful bubble where she can dream to her heart’s content. Her own naivety however can be her undoing as she tends to drift her way into situations without realising it, causing unwanted trouble for herself and for others. Mei-Mei is also very sensitive and her emotions can change at a flick of a switch, she’s easily upset but she can also very easily recover – so when she’s in a bad mood or a glum mood people tend to tiptoe round her being very careful not to set her off.
Another trait of Mei's is that she can be a very stubborn person when she wants to be. While she’s not purposely reckless she won’t change her mind once it’s set on something. This can either be good or bad depending on the situation as it takes a hell of a lot to change her mind.
Overall however she’s a friendly person (if not a tad judgemental) one who likes to see the good in others, she’s helpful and quite gentle as she likes helping other people as she believes one day they’ll help her in return. She’s kind to a point, but she’s not stupidly kind, if someone’s nasty to her it takes a lot of time to gain her trust again, as she’d constantly second guess on whether or not the person was being honest with her and her own personal paranoia would ebb away at her feelings making it hard for her to sit comfortably with that person.
Mei smoothed down the soft fabric of her dark cotton school dress. It was so short compared to her usually pink and white qipao that she felt odd wearing (in her opinion) such a revealing outfit. Blushing lightly at her unusual reflection she pulled up her long woolen socks till they reached the top of her slender thighs thankfully hiding the oddly shaped flower birth mark that ruined her ivory pale slender legs.
She hummed softly as she fixed the delicate pink flower into her long dark locks of hair which hung free daintily down her back (save for the one curl that seemed almost untamable). Mei smiled lithely before she stepped out of the en-suite dormitory bathroom and danced across the room picking up her little school satchel in a quick swift movement before the young Taiwanese girl sauntered quietly out of the Dorm.
Sunlight broke through the hallway windows painting the corridors a vivid yellow. Mei smiled brightly as she pressed her nose up against the glass her chocolate brown eyes lit up with glee at the weather. She couldn’t wait for the school day to finish as once it had she’d definitely take advantage of it! There were so many places she still had to explore at the school and after arriving so hastily she hadn’t really had time to do a lot of exploring which was sad as curiosity often got the better of the young nation. She simply loved spending hours outside walking wherever her feet would take her. It was the thrill of adventure that called to her like a sirens song, and like the bewitched girl she was Mei would follow it as she searched for adventure. Her eyes glazed over dreamily until she broke her gaze away and continued down the long winding corridors of the academy.
Her black school shoes clip clopped softly across the stone floor shuffling carefully Mei maneuvered her way through the small (yet growing) crowd of early risers with easy elegance until she finally reached her locker. She fiddled with the combination till it fell open with a click, the corridor was emptying now and it was at least an hour until her first class and she didn’t know what to do. Breakfast was an option but she wasn’t hungry and she never really ate breakfast anyway it made her feel far too bloated during her early morning lessons and Mei could never concentrate properly on a full icky stomach. She much preferred to wait until lunchtime where she could pick her favorite dishes and try new exciting ones!
The hallway was empty now, with all her books balanced on top of one another slightly obscuring her vision, stupidly Mei carefully stepped quickly trying her hardest to keep the books together. Her plan was to make it to one of the windowsills so she could sort the books out properly and decide which would be the most important for the day and which she didn’t need (as she hadn’t thought to do it while at her locker) her grin quickly disappeared however as her grip began to loosen, her large dark eyes widened and her pale lips fell slightly agape as her books fell to the floor with a deep thud. She gasped as she fell on her knees, paper and sheets where flying everywhere and half of the books were scattered across the floor, desperately she scrabbled to pick them all up and it would have been easy if it wasn’t for the strong breeze from the open window.
“H-hey come back.” shouted Mei her gentle voice seemed to echo off of the tall stone walls as she desperately scurried after the floating piece of paper only praying it wasn’t something important.
She chased the missing sheet futilely not noticing the approaching figure, the paper finally fluttered to the floor in front of the approaching person. A wide blush reddened her cheeks as she bent down to retrieve it.
“S-sorry,” she apologized bowing her head in embarrassment. “I d-dropped my books and it just got away from me.” She rambled
