The smell of a hospital didn’t really bother Mei anymore; having spent a lot of time volunteering in the infirmary the stinging smell of antiseptic or overly clean surfaces hardly fazed her. She smiled loosely as she packed away the rest of the spare bandages. The head nurse had left on an errand run leaving Mei in charge; though the nurse had only been gone twenty minutes to Mei it seemed like a life time. She nibbled her lip nervously, if anyone came in with a severe wound Mei would be stuck, for now the most she could do was bandage and clean a wound, so if someone came in with their arm hanging off she and they would be screwed.
She stared at the door and waited for it to defy her wishes. But finally, when no one came in with a terrifically gory wound Mei resigned herself to mundane task of tidying. For a moment her eyes gazed serenely out of the window as she watched two students sparing in the courtyard. A pang of jealousy tugged at her inwards and for a second she felt a frown slip upon her usually cheer filled lips. It wasn’t as though she was useless, she was actually pretty darn good when it came to sneaking, and poisoning and she was even shaping up to be half decent medic. But sometimes Mei just wished she was stronger, with the tournament well on its way she knew she’d never stand a chance without some strength behind her.
I guess I’ll just have to increase my hand-to-hand combat... that didn’t seem like a bad idea. She was agile, so what she lacked in strength she could at least make up in speed.

Ivan swung his fist viscously at the punching bag, hitting it hard, before pulling his hand back and punching out at it again. He was working off some of the anger he had been feeling in his previous class, which was full of idiots who were no doubt going to die the second that they got sent out into the field. Ivan almost pitied the poor fools who thought that they were still going to be able to make it in the cutthroat world of spies without previous training prior to coming to this school, they were sorely mistaken.
He growled a little before swinging his fist at the bag, even harder this time, and letting out a stream of curses in Russian as he felt a few of the bones in his hand crack at the force at which they hit the bag with. Dammit, this meant a trip to the infirmary, since Ivan knew better then to let a broken hand go untreated, especially with the tournament beginning to loom ever closer. He cursed again before collecting his book bag, and cleaning up as best as he could with his injured hand, before leaving the training room, and walking to the infirmary, trying not to move his hand too much along the way.
He quietly slipped into the infirmary, looking around for the nurse, and frowning when he didn’t see her immediately, like most students always did whenever they entered.
“Hello? Is anybody here?” He called out, thinking that the nurse was probably just off in a back room somewhere or something.

She was so lost in thought she didn’t hear the door swing open. Humming tunefully her chestnut eyes locked with the outside world. It was such a pretty day, so serene – peaceful almost. You didn’t get many days like these in the academy. For a moment, if Mei closed her eyes she could believe she was at a normal high school. It wasn’t as if she regretted living here. This was her life now and although she had her doubts about devoting her life to espionage - she’d have to live with it. She smiled it did have its perks though, so many dashing spy wannabe’s really made her heart race sometimes – though, who could blame her even if she was training to kill she was still a teenage girl.
A voice drove Mei from her thoughts and as she spun on her heel she came face to face with one of the tallest people she’d ever met. “Oh- sorry.” She apologised, her eyes met the floor. “I didn’t hear you come in,” said Mei raising her gaze she offered him a smile before softly her eyes gave the boy a quick sweep. “The nurse’s out but I can help you, if you’d like – I’m her assistant.” Said Mei as her eyes finally fell on the boy’s swollen hand. “Can I take a look?” she asked gently reaching her hand out “I’m Mei, by the way.” She offered, once she knew the student she could write down his details – then if it was a serious break she could take down his details and wait for the nurse to return. Mei simply hoped it wasn’t too bad, she’d been taught how to fix minor breaks but anything serious well that was simply out of her league.

Ivan looked around the small infirmary entrance room, since the quarantine rooms, and store rooms, and other assorted rooms were farther back, leading off the small hallway, as he looked for the nurse. He was mildly surprised though when he found out that it was only her student assistant here right now. Apparently she had enough faith in the girl to be able to at least handle some of the more serious situations until she got back.
"It is alright, and I am Ivan, Ivan Braginski." He said, while holding out his swollen hand to the girl, trying not to move his fingers, lest he cause himself more pain, when it had finally stopped hurting as much as it had while he was walking.
He continued looking around the room, reading quickly over the assorted medical charts, and diagrams, and some of the mildly gory pictures, showing things like how to reset a broken bone without help. Just some of the stuff they learned in health class, along with how to stop bleeding quickly, and easy ways to kill someone mercifully if they were suffering from a serious injury and no help was in sight, and other pleasant things like that.
Ivan let out a soft sigh, and winced a little as the girl, Mei, moved his hand around to examine it. He really wished that he had been at least a bit more careful, and hadn’t broken his hand as badly as he probably had, especially with the tournament coming up, but oh well, it was too late for him to dwell on things like that for any longer than was necessary. He continued to look around the room, trying to keep himself distracted as Mei examined, and hopefully if she was able to, treat his broken hand.
