Large dogs: He is very, very wary of large dogs. The terrify him and it is extremely rare for him to come within a 3 mile radius of a large dog if it can be avoided.
QUIRKS/ODDITIES
~His hair curl. A small curl, barely noticeable from a distance, bobs from the left side of his head. He can stand for anyone to touch it and those who do are throughly beaten to a pulp. When the curl is pulled Lovino flushes a bright red color and tends to swear even more than normal in Italian.
~Nervous tick: Everyone has one, but Lovino's is a bit less subtle than most. He paces. No matter where or when, if Lovino's nervous he'll begin pacing in a way that almost looks like he's dancing all by himself.
~Healing: Lovino is actually a very good person to come to if you are having problems dealing with things mentally or physically. He was a nursing assistant in a hospital for three summers.
OVERALL PERSONALITY
"Can't pretend that I'm alright....and you can't change me."
When people (who know his brother) first meet Lovino they typically expect a mirror of the cheerful, lovable little angel. This is where they are sorely mistaken. Lovino is no clone of his baby brother, not by a long-shot. The older of the two brothers can be described as cold, stand-offish, bratty and even mildly cruel in some instances. His language seems to reflect an angry teenager yet looking just below the surface reveals many of the negative aspects of the boy's personality are actually a front put up to keep people out.
"I've learned the hard way, to never let it get that far.."
Once you manage to rip away the bindings of stand-offishness that surround Lovino, you gain access to the wonderful (if not still a bit cold) person within. The boy who holds his family and their reputation above his own. The person who cares so much about his brother he tries to push him away for the other's well-being even when it feels as though he's being ripped apart by a furry of claws when the tears escape the the younger brother's eyes at Lovino's expense and fault. The little boy inside still clinging to the whispers of the past and how his life once used to be, wishing he'll never be close enough to anyone again to fear the abandonment that plagues him still.
"Now I can't breath, no I can't sleep, I'm barely hanging on.."
There are a few quirks that can, depending on which, either set off the young Italian or make his face flush in an instant and leave him a stuttering, cursing mess. One of these little quirks being foreign languages. Lovino himself is fluent in English, Italian and Spanish and finds himself utterly outraged when people try and change up languages in an effort to leave him out. Yet on the opposite side of the languages, Lovino can easily be left a mess with a few well spoken Spanish words or a sweet phrase whispered in Italian. There's also the young Italian's fascination with pirates and anything related that can turn him into putty in the right hands.
"This is the end you know lately the plans we had went all wrong. We ain't nothing but fighting shout and tears."
A low rumble sounded from someplace beneath the Italian's feet and he griped tighter to the window sill. This was supposed to be a typical night, just a quick in-and-out theft job but instead Lovino now found himself scrabbling up a fire escape.
"Where do you think you're going, Pirate?" A hauntingly familiar voice called from down below him. It took a moment for the familiarity of the voice to click within the teen's mind but once it did there was no way to convince him he was wrong.
"Joker." The brunette spat, tossing a scathing glare down at his assailant. The Italian's judgement lapsed for one moment, one hand straying downward to knife on his belt, and the next second he was flat on his back against the wet pavement. Quiet laughter echoed down the small alley way as the slosh and wet smack of footsteps drew closer.
A hand grasped the young Vargas boy's hair, yanking him to his feet forcefully before dropping the grip. "Miss me?" The blonde before him questioned with a smirk.
"You wish." The masked teen snarled running the back of one hand across his mouth to wipe away all traces of blood. Without warning two men broke from their form behind the Joker forcefully pinning the small boy against the brick wall of one of the building. The younger boy's reaction was near instantaneous, his hands flew to his belt clasping the knives that lay waiting there and soon he has one of the men backed up against the wall they'd been trying to force him against.
"What do you want bastardo?"Lovino growled without so much as glancing back over his shoulder at the blonde man.
"Just a little ah..friendly reminder," The Joker grinned malevolently flashing the boy a glimpse of his sharpened canines and incisors. "This is Pack turf."
"I suppose I'll be sure to remember that next time I make my runs over here." The Vargas boy snapped, his voice and posture displaying none of the fear he felt growing within him. The sound of clanging chains sent a chill down the teen's spine. He was just barely fast enough to whip around and catch sight of the first dog (if it could be called that considering its massive size) lunging toward him, the second hot on its heels. Panic gripped Lovino in it's icy tendons as he stared wide-eyed at the dogs. "Aye dios mio.." He breathed, for one moment both canines stood stock-still sizing up their next victim, their prey and as the first dog moved to step forward again the masked teen made a mad dash toward the entrance to the alley.
