IDUNN BONDEVIK
FULL NAME HERE Idunn Bondevik
NICKNAMES Idunn, Nor, Norgie, Freak. She tends to only answer to Idunn though.
GENDER Female
AGE Sixteen
GRADE Eleven/Junior
ETHNICITY Norwegian
SPECIALTY
-Survival- Idunn grew up in a northern part of Norway, with short summers, harsh winters, and lots of forest. She learned the survival skills necessary, and growing up with only her father, who was an outdoors man through and through, she learned even more than was absolutely necessary. She can survive practically any situation outdoors, and most indoors as well.
-Hand-to-hand combat- With her small frame no one would really expect her to be able to pack a nasty punch, but she can. She took gymnastics for years until she grew tired of it and quit, so she is rather flexible as well, which usually helps her with her fighting. She'd rather not fight however, preferring to just hide out in a forest somewhere until the situation or whatever it is has passed.
YOUR CHARACTER'S LIKES
Silence- Idunn likes the peace that comes along with it, it enables her to just relax, and not worry about anything really.
Reading- Idunn loves to read. It lets her escape from the harsh reality of the world and enter a world of her own, where she doesn't have to worry about any of this 'spy school' stuff, or anything else for that matter.
Fairy tales- While Idunn loves reading just about anything, fairy tales hold a special place in her heart because one of her memories of her mother is her reading them to her as a child.
Winter- To Idunn, winter is the most peaceful season there is, and when it's snowing she can usually be found near a window with a book in hand.
Sailing- This is one of Idunn's favourite pastimes from when she was a child. Her father owns a boat and every summer when the two of them would go to their cottage in Trondheim, they would go sailing for hours on end.
Swimming- It goes along with sailing, since you can't learn one without the other, especially when you're around water as much as Idunn was as a child.
Skiing- It is one thing that practically all Norwegians know how to do, and one of Idunn's favourite things for sure.
Music- Idunn has played the violin since she was young and she loves. One of her memories of her mother is also of her singing lullabies to her when she was still very young.
Nature- Idunn loves the timeless beauty of it, how unless directly interfered with it remains the same, year after year, following the same patterns over and over again.
Sweets- Idunn, although you would be hard pressed to get him to admit it, has an extremely large sweet tooth.
Her girlfriend- While she may deny it at times, she loves her Danish girlfriend Mia a lot.
Her stuffed pink bunny rabbit- It's a toy she has had since she was young, and she has taken meticulous care of it to keep it in prime condition.
YOUR CHARACTER'S DISLIKES
Obnoxious noises- As the complete opposite of the silence that Idunn prefers, she really dislikes loud and annoying noises, because they are annoying, and give her a terrible headache.
Being bored- Idunn hates not having something to keep her occupied, so she usually brings a book with her everywhere so she'll always have something to do.
Being indoors- Idunn prefers being outside, whether the weather is nice or not. If you can't find her inside, it's usually because she has escaped to the outdoors somewhere and is probably curled up reading a book in a tree or something.
Being social- Idunn is not good in large crowds and does not like talking to people she doesn't know. She actually just doesn't like talking in general, preferring to read a book or stare out a window instead of talk.
Cooking- Idunn can not cook. At all. Therefore she hates it because it makes her look like a fool and an idiot. So she just refuses to cook, period.
Having her hair curl pulled- Idunn has an odd piece of hair that floats at the side of her head, and she’s had it for as long as she can remember, but she really does not like having it pulled, as it has a few effects that she deems undesirable.
Men- While she doesn't really have a problem with them per se, she just doesn't like them, as she much prefers women.
FEARS Idunn fears not being able to survive something. Since it's her specialty, and it's kept her alive more than once, she fears something happening that she can't survive, or there is little to no chance of her survival (i.e. the zombie apocalypse)
Idunn also fears being abandoned. When she was little her mother was killed, and after that she only had her father, and they were as close as a father and daughter could be. But when she was ten, he met a woman whom he fell in love with, and stopped spending as much time with Idunn. Three years later her father married the Danish woman and the three of them moved to Denmark. There Idunn was basically abandoned by her father, who spent all his time with his new wife, who didn't like Idunn very much, and Idunn couldn't stand her. So Idunn fears being abandoned again, like she was all those years ago by the one person who she loved at the time.
QUIRKS/ODDITIES Idunn has a little hair curl that floats at this side of her head. It is advised that you never pull it.
One of Idunn's quirks is that she always has something to do, usually it's a book to read, but sometimes it's a sketchbook, or even a camera so she can sketch/take pictures of his surroundings.
Idunn also fully believes in all kinds of old Nordic myths and legends and can see things such as fairies and trolls. Although she doesn't outright say that she can, she won't deny it either if asked about it, even if it does get her ostracized usually.
She is also much shorter than most girls her age, standing only at 5' 1/2". She has no problems with her height though, in fact she quite likes it oddly enough.
OVERALL PERSONALITY Idunn is a rather shy girl, but she usually uses sarcasm and brutal honesty to hide that. She didn't have a mother for the vast majority of her life growing up, so at times she is not the most feminine, due to growing up with only her father.
She has a bit of a distrust for authority figures, as her stepmother was a policewoman, but is quite possibly one of the most horrible people Idunn has ever met. She also dislikes them because she was bullied a lot when she was younger for a variety of reasons. Every time she told a teacher, nothing was done about the bullying, and it just went on.
Idunn is by no means a pacifist, but she doesn't really like to fight either. Even though some may view it as cowardly, she would rather run away from confrontation then face a challenge head-on. She tend to used her survival skills to also get out of having to socialize with people, making sure that she stays hidden and far away from people.
Her mother died when she was young, murdered by a group of thugs while they were on vacation in America, and until her father remarried a Danish woman, she had pretty much no female influence in her life. She grew up with her father, spending almost all of her time outside. He also taught her how to swear, although it takes something very drastic for her to swear loud enough for her anyone to hear her these days.
Idunn has always been fairly withdrawn from people, and she really isn't all that fond of talking to people. She would much rather read a book or draw something than talk to someone usually. She withdrew from the world even more when her father remarried and they moved to Denmark. It was in Denmark though that she met Mia Sorensen, who helped draw her back out into the world.
One of the things that Idunn has always been bullied for throughout the years, is the fact that she can see creatures from Norse myths and legends. No one but her mother and father has ever believed her though, and that was only because her mother could see them too when she was still alive. It is one of the reasons she dislikes talking to people, as most of them poke fun at her for her oddities when they're found out.
Idunn dislikes being bored a lot, so she tends to always carry a book, or a sketchbook and pencils with her everywhere, so she always has something to do. She's a bit of a goody two shoes though, and dislikes skipping classes, but she has no problems with breaking rules, so long as she doesn't get caught.
Idunn walked home from school slowly. It had been three months since they had moved, and all Idunn wanted to do was go back to Norway, her actual home. This flat, boring place would never be her home, no matter what her dad and the stepbitch said. She scowled and kicked a stone out of her way, adjusting the strap of her backpack as she walked. School had only been going on for two weeks now, and she was already being made fun of for more things than she could count. She let out a sigh, not paying any attention to where she was walking, which admittedly, was pretty stupid on her part. She let out a small 'oof' as she ran into someone, and fell back onto the pavement, groaning a little as she rubbed her back, looking up at the person she had run into.
Mia had skipped out on her last late class early, heading home before the final bell. School hadn't been going long, but she was already getting bored of it. The messenger bag she carried hung heavy on her shoulder as she meandered homewards. Her walk home was a fair distance and she liked the fresh air, but it always made her feel a bit sluggish, especially since she had noone to make the walk with. She began to let her mind wander to her fantasy world where she immersed herself in the norse myth's of old. She was drfting aimlessly when a bump and an 'off' broguth her back to earth. When she came back to her senses she immediately was drawn to a small blonde girl on the pavement before her. Mia jumped as she knelt down beside the girl. "Oh, hey! Damn, sorry! My bad!" She said as she first offered the girl her hand to help her up.
Idunn let out a small 'ow' as she rubbed at her now sore behind. Damn the ground was hard here... Probably because there was no grass to cushion her fall. She looked up at the taller girl she had run into, reaching up to take the offered hand, using it to pull herself up. She let go and brushed herself off once she was standing again. "It's alright, it's my fault for not paying any attention to where I was going." She said shortly, adjusted her messenger bag's strap again so it wasn't all twisted up, before starting on her way home again.
Mia blinked as she was a bit surprised the exchange with the girl had been so short. The girl was cute, really cute, if not a bit younger than herself. She followed after the girl without much of a second though as to why. "Hey! You sure you okay? I mean, I bumped you pretty hard. It wouldn't be right for me to not make sure you get home alright" Mia grinned at the girl. "My name is Mia...I'm guessing you're new around here, huh?" She said offering to take the smaller girls bag, since she looked like it was going to break her.
Idunn gave the older girl, Mia apparently, a raised eyebrow, letting out a small sond of protest as she took her bag from her. "I'm fine, you don't have to walk me home or anything." She said shortly, glaring down at the ground. "And I'm Idunn, I guess I am still pretty new around here..." She said a little sourly, remembering the fight she had had with her father about moving here.
"Hey, it's no problem. No trouble at all." She said falling into stride beside her. "It's nice to meet Idunn!" Mia said holding out her hand for the other girl. She pondered her words and how bitter her tone was. She tilted her head and contemplated the girl. "Ya know, you can talk about it, if ya want..." She offered. Mia ever the friendly optimist.
She pursued her lips, glaring at the sidewalk under her feet as she reluctantly reached out and shook the older girl's hand, before letting go and shoving both of her hands into her jacket pockets. "I would much rather be at home back in Norway, that's all there is to it." She said shortly, hands clenched into fists in her pockets.
Mia tilted her head. "You don't like it here in Denmark?" She asked, feeling almost a little hurt that someone could dislike her home so much. "Ah, you just haven't found someone to make things interesting, for ya~" Mia said giving a lighthearted wink. "Maybe if someone showed you around?..." She said looking at her.
Idunn shrugged. "I didn't want to move here, I would much rather be back at home, and I doubt that that will ever change." She rolled her eyes at the older girl's wink, before shrugging again. "It might become tolerable then... I don't know.." She said honestly.
"Well, I know you don't really know me...but I can't stand to see such a pretty face look so upset." She grinned again. "I would be happy to show you around...~" She said with a playful tone.
"Great!" Mia said happily as she grinned and nudged the girl off in another direction. She thought the bags weighing heavily on them would serve no good purpose so when they passed her house, she offered Idunn the chance to leave her bag safely there. After the detour she led the girl back down the road. She then took her down a path that led to Mia's favorite place to go when she wants quiet. Down the wooded path, it led to a lush green open space amongst the shaded canopy. It was the perfect place to get lost in a fantasy world of myth.
Idunn followed the older girl, watching her with a bit of curiousity. Why would this girl, this stranger, offer to show her of all people around? It wasn't like they even really knew each other, they had just literally run into each other, and now they were walking around the town. She looked around the clearing she had been lead into with awe. It was beautiful, and she could see the faeries dancing around in it happily, waving at her and Mia. "It's beautiful.." She breathed quietly, turning around to look at the entire clearing as she walked farther into it.
"This is where i come when I want quiet...it's my favorite place in this whole area!" She said excitedly as she ran a hand through her messy hair. She looked at the Idunn. "Like it?" Mia said grinning again. It was a beautiful place, Mia had known it for years. And she had never taken anyone else to her special place before. Not untill Idunn.
She continued to turn around slowly, admiring the beauty of it, while giving the fae who were in the clearing a discreet wave of acknowledgement. "I love it... I can see why its your favourite place..." She said quietly, taking a hand out of her jacket pocket to set it on the trunk of a large moss covered tree gently.
